PT Fajar Makassar Grafika was established on August 24, 1989 under the name PT Printing Media Fajar. On July 31, 1993 the name was changed to PT Fajar Jawaraya Printing. Due to commercial and psychological reasons, on November 5, 2003 the company name was changed again to PT Fajar Makassar Grafika until now. The main business is engaged in newspaper printing. Along with the development of technology, currently the newspaper printing business is declining.
In early 2021, the company began to look at a new business in the coconut shell charcoal briquette industry, which processes coconut shell charcoal into export-quality briquettes. Investment began at the end of 2021 and began to be developed in 2022 until now. Several exports have been made to meet demand from Texas, Dubai, Oman and Lebanon.
The Sulawesi region, one of the best and largest producers of coconut shell charcoal in Indonesia, is the main trigger for the development of this industry based in Makassar. The quality and quantity of briquettes produced can compete with international markets.

M. Ridwan Arif
M. Ridwan Arif was born in 1971 with a doctoral degree from the University of Indonesia Jakarta. He joined Fajar Group in 1997 as an internal audit. At the 2019 GMS, he was appointed as the President Director of PT FMG. Besides being a lecturer at Ujungpandang State Polytechnic, until now he has served as Chairman of Fajar Education Foundation, one of the Educational Foundations within Fajar Group.
